Rear Panel Control Connections

  BCD SB-100 Right Rear Panel
Machine Control (VCR) Port SB-100 Right Rear Panel - Machine Control Port
This RJ-11-6 jack goes from the SB-100 to the VCR.
Electrically, it is an RS-232 signal, but through proper connectors supplied by BCD, it also drives RS-422 machines such as the Sony UVW-1800 Betacam.

Host RS-232 Connectors SB-100 Right Rear Panel - Host RS-232 Connectors
These connectors accept RS-232 signals from a host computer. They are tied together electrically. Under software control, they can be enabled to listen only when the specif unit is addressed. Up to 15 SB-100s can be daisy-chained together.

The connectors in the SB-100 are know as RJ-11-6 because they have 6 conductors. The cables we provide, however are standard telephone line RJ-11-4 (4-conductor). The extra conductors (1 & 6) are reserved for future expansion.
Facing the rear of the box, from left to right, the signals are:

Pin # 1 2 3 4 5 6
SignalN/CTxD from SB-100RxD to SB-100GNDGND GND
Note: The provided 4-conductor cable uses only pins 2,3,4,5 on the SB-100.

Switch SB-100 Right Rear Panel - Options Switch
The Options Switch sets several parameters on the SB-100
Sw.    Description
sw.1-4 = box number in binary, on=0 off=1 ('0 1 1 0' would be box # 6)
sw.5 = flash bank override, on=stay in bank 1, off=normal(bank 0)
sw.6 = command parser: on=alternate, off=BCD(default)
sw.7 = fixed host baudrate, on=38400, off=9600
sw.8 = autobaud, on=autobaud, off=fixed baudrate
All switches on at boot time means perform a factory reset.

Therefore, Sw.7 only on is fixed baudrate at 38.4K. All switches Off = fixed Baud at 9600.
Switch 8 On = Autobaud, Sw.7 "don't care"

Power Connector SB-100 Right Rear Panel - Power Connector
Power is nominally +9 Volts DC through a standard 2.1mm connector (center positive).
The system can tolerate voltages from 9V to 14V.
The SB-100 is supplied with a US Style wall power block.
