BCD's IR-800 was developed for casinos, but it's great for any security installation that uses lots of VCRs. The problem is that many time lapse VCRs don't have infrared remote control. That means that you, or your security operatiors have to manually press the control buttons on each and every VCR. That's not too bad if you only have 8 or 10 machines, but if you have hundreds of them, it's a real hassle! It's also a security risk if you miss one of the machines!
