Multiple Machines Multiple Controllers
Multiple SB-100 Controllers at NASA Ames Laboratory BCD Controllers may be individually addressed from a single serial port. The "DECK 3" command selects machine #3. All subsequent commands go to that machine. We can use a VC-16a to accept button presses, then send discrete commands to individual machines (DVD-C7 players & recorders, VC-16b, VC-16a, and SB-100. Custom BCD programming is often required.

1.    Superimpose Time Code Over Video
  • Switch 4 controls the display ON/OFF at the default "lower third" position. 
    UP = ON.
  • The command DISP x positions the display at TV line x. 
  • The TC-100 always reads both LTC and VITC
  • Switch 1 determines whether LTC or VITC is displayed.

2.    Write VITC and Superimpose Time Code Over Video to Multiple VCRs

  • TC-100 #1 generates the master time code or reads it from the incoming VITC or LTC source. 
  • Video with VITC and superimposed  TC goes to VCR #1. 
  • LTC from TC-100 #1 goes to TC-100 #2
  • TC-100 #2 reads the LTC, translates it to VITC and sends video and VITC to VCR #2.
Superimpose Time Code on Multiple Recorders. One TC-100 per recorder. Each synced with the other via LTC loop-thru.
3.    Translate VITC to LTC
  • Send Video with VITC into Video In jack.
  • Get LTC Out from LTC Out jack.
4.    Translate LTC to VITC
  • Send Video into Video In jack.
  • Send LTC into LTC In jack
  • Get Video with VITC out from Video/VITC Out jack.
5.    Generate VITC
  • Send Video into Video In jack.
  • Set TC-100 to Generate (Switch 2 or computer command).
  • Get Video with VITC out from Video/VITC Out jack.
