Disc Players Die !
BCD's VC-16b controllers don't fail. Never has one failed inthe field. DVD players, however, usually die within 12-18 months,especially those in exhibits played 8 hrs per day, 7 days per week. Usually it's the spindle motor, the one that spins the disc. Ourclients had the choice of replacing inexpensive players on a regularbasis or using a $1,000 industrial player. The long-term cost was atoss-up.

The picture quality is amazing! HD Digital Video Players from BCD playMPEG-2, MPEG-1, MPEG-4 files through RGB(VGA) and HDMI connectors. Analog Component Y, Pb, Pr is available on some players

Scaling is automatic to fill the screen or can be set to letterbox 4:3 on a 16:9 screen.

Pushbutton Interactivity
Sadly,we're selling against our own product. We are somewhat hesitant topromote Digital Video Players because we make more money selling VC-16bcontrollers. The fact is that for many applications, a digital playeris simply the right thing to do. Our Digital Players have GPI inputsfor up to 8 push buttons and we can supply programming to map buttonpresses for up to 8 different video files.... plus an Attract Loop.
So the player shows arepeating attract loop of video, often short segments from the contentvideos. Text is usually superimposed on the video saying somethinglike "Press Button for Video." (You have to say that or else themuseum visitor will stare at the Attract Loop then walk away withoutpressing any buttons!) (Special Client Upgrade Offer)
We have not yet, however, been able to duplicate traditional DVD Menuselection: Up/Down/Left/Right/Enter. We're working on it.
Touch Screen Interactivity
Digital Video Players from BCD can be programmed to accept triggersfrom USB touch screens, typically from ELO. We can divide the screento create "touch zones" using a still image or motion video as thebackground.
Digital Signage
